I don’t just write about this stuff – I do actually live it.  Having worked in large corporations for many years I realised that businesses have plans to succeed, hit targets, change what isn’t working, create harmonious environments, adapt and evolve.  They don’t leave success or failure to chance and yet this is exactly what we often do in our personal lives.

We often find ourselves in less than ideal circumstances and rarely take the time to do an ‘annual plan’ - we just keep our heads down.  I found myself in this situation some years ago and realised I had to change my approach.  I started setting goals and creating compelling images of what I did want in my life and everything started to change.

I sat down one rainy Saturday with large pieces of paper and effectively worked through the process outlined in the book.   I did a fairly harsh assessment of where I was – what I was happy about and what I wasn’t.   I wrote a story of how my ‘ideal life’ would look in 10 years time.  I then made a montage stuffed full of images that inspired me and of things that I wanted in my own life.
